sparks and shining dragons: for jason [2-Disc]
V-Day is coming up (as I'm sure you're all aware of) and since we're poor, the Husband and I are planning on getting delicious gyros from the local Greek eatery, watching a movie, and playing board games at home as our big date. We're saying "no presents," which really means "a few small presents," and this is part of mine. As always, some of these are jokes, some are heartfelt, and some are covers of songs he likes.

Re: Shuffle holds all the keys
I love Charlotte Sometimes, too. And you, of course :-)
amanda x
For a "creative" research paper, I had to of course make a mix. My paper covered relapse rates for eating disorders (a subject close to my heart), and as the "creative" part I wrote entrance forms and therapy transcripts and journal entries for this character, Amanda X. As I turned it in, I snuck this CD in with the papers, with a Post-It explaining that I'd tried to further flesh Amanda out in a mix.
Some of the songs fit Amanda's personality (further evinced in the paper) when it comes to sound, but all of them have lyrical significance. Whether it's "I miss the comfort in being sad," "This isn't happening / I'm not here," or every word of the much-loved anorexic-appropriated anthem "Paper Bag," all of these songs either A) are/were important to me and other ED sufferers I know/knew or B) fit well with the theme of wanting so strongly to both stay away from and fall back into something you know is going to kill you.
And yes, I know that "Pretty Bird" by Jenny Lewis is also on my "Feathered Friends" mix with avocado rabbit, but it fits so perfectly here, too, that I hope you'll forgive me this repeat.

4) Satin In A Coffin - Modest Mouse
5) Your Heart Is An Empty Room - Death Cab For Cutie
6) How To Disappear Completely - Radiohead
7) Everything Reminds Me Of Her - Elliott Smith
8) Disturbia - The Vox Collective
9) Paper Bag - Fiona Apple
10) A Better/Son Daughter - Rilo Kiley
11) Chariot - Page France
12) Pretty Bird - Jenny Lewis
13) Tiger Mountain Peasant Song - First Aid Kit
14) Wake Up Little Sparrow - Lizz Wright
15) Paper Doll - Denison Witmer
16) Breathe Me - Sia
17) Pretty Dress - Rosie Thomas
18) I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You - Colin Hay
