...am I the only one that has been hellishly busy since the holidays?

Just wondering!

What's been going on in your lives, folks?

Absolutely not.

What's been going on? The tedium of life interspersed with projects designed to keep me sane. One such project is trying to keep my digital music library tidy and listening to much of it that has been neglected. There is probably much stuff that can be tossed and other things that would benefit from being placed in some context. I hope to have at least one mix every four to six weeks to achieve those goals.

Trying to keep my digital library tidy is one of those never-ending tasks, so I know what you mean. I think this year I'm going to have to implement some kind of quarterly cleanse or something, just to weed out the stuff I really don't need anymore.

Of course, now that I've got way more storage space than I need, that could be just a pipe dream!

Still, I think there comes a tipping point where you just have more music than you could ever listen to, isn't there?

If that's the case, I reached it yoinks ago :D

A few months ago I found someone who digitized a bunch of vinyl in his collection. A lot of his collection was in mine. So of COURSE I had to download many RARs' worth of albums. Thing is, some of that music didn't hold up. The question becomes: do I get rid of the vinyl and the digital or ... what?

There's that "I might need it someday" factor that kicks in.

But I digress....

What are other folks doing? Hmmmm?

Very wise. I don't know how many times I've deleted a song and then just a few months afterwards I feel like hitting myself over the head for not keeping it. Mostly it's been songs that are relatively easy to get hold of, but sometimes you're completely out of luck.

First things first, Happy New Year Folks,

Each week I acquire more music than I can ever listen to! I'm busy burning to disc every album that's stored on my computer, the task will take me months but I only really concentrate on music if I play it on cd. I'm being ruthless cos I know I've stuff that I'll never listen to. Years back a good friend advised me to only read books that came with a recommendation cos there's far too many good books we'll never get through to waste time on bad literature, I've followed said advice and rarely has it let me down.

I'm now considering only checking out stuff that others recommend, hopefully resulting in more time to listen to music and less time spent endlessly researching stuff I'm unfamiliar with. I'm not sure how long I'd keep up such a course of action but I think I'll give it a go. I'm also toying with the idea of only buying garage sounds from the 60's this year cos that seems to be all I listen to of late, I know it's somewhat restrictive but I salivate just thinking about how much I could add to my garage collection.

A Bientot,

Cliff.
