It's probably no surprise that I love this. I've been listening to the Sonics a lot lately, so extra special kudos for that track. I gave you a thumb too.

This is really, really good. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a winner, and it will sure be a winner on my stereo.

Derek, great mix. Love the last three on yours.

Dafpunk, I would have an absolute ball if this was playing on my new years eve. If I wasn't working myself that night I'd throw it together and make it my soundtrack. Favourite YLT and Stereolab tracks. Love Lapdance...

No Pop Here

(please note, there is some foul language in my mix. if anyone cares about that.)

My New Year's Eve Mix. It's right over an hour. Not an easy mix to put together and it killed me to cut it down, so I'm going to post my original idea in my blog.

For the record, I'm not a New Year's Eve person. If I were going to have a party, though, I'd start this at about 11 and let it play on through midnight. I was going for a up and down mellow, might make you want to move, might make you tap your foot type thing.

1. Fireman -- Lil Wayne
2. Sing Sing Sing (With a Swing) -- Benny Goodman
3. Spur of the Moment -- Ludacris
4. Have a Cigar -- Rosebud
5. Signs -- Justin Timberlake/Snoop Dogg
6. One Nation Under A Groove  -- Parliament Funkadelic
7. Just Dance -- Lady Gaga
8. Floetry -- Floetic
9. Hollywood Swinging -- Kool and the Gang
10. Wouldn't Get Far -- The Game
11. Got To Give It Up Pt. 1 -- Marvin Gaye
12. Lebanese Blonde -- Thievery Corporation
13. Hypnotize -- Notorious B.I.G.
14. Round About Midnight -- Gotan Project

Also, for the record, my title, No Pop Here, has nothing to do with anything but the image I've chosen for my cover art. I don't do NY's Eve, so there's no poppers for me, etc...

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - A New Year's Mix

Submitting in the eleventh hour, this is my addition to the December Mix-Off.
It's very upbeat (especially considering what kind of mixes I usually make), but it's only New Year's once a year (not counting the Chinese, that is). I was trying to make a mix that keeps people from sitting down, something that keeps them mingling and snacking and eventually dancing (it always takes a while, but a good mix should speed things up). Since its only supposed to reflect the very first hour of the party (since it's a party and no dinner, I'm guessing it starts somewhere around nine or so (the earlier you start, the more fun you'll have) and thus cutting off around ten.

1. Amy Macdonald - Barrowland Balllroom
2. Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
3. Stereophonics - Dakota
4. Beck - Sexx Laws
5. Pulp - Disco 2000
6. Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Dawn of the Dead
7. Kirsty MacColl - A New England
8. The Stone Roses - Waterfall
9. Dusty Springfield & Pet Shop Boys - What Have I Done to Deserve This?
10. Suede - Beautiful Ones
11. Melody Club - Fever Fever
12. Scissor Sisters - She's My Man
13. Gwen Stefani - Danger Zone
14. Blur - Girls & Boys

Some fine additions gals. I'm giving you both a thumbs up. Rebel Princess I'd love to give you two thumbs up as I think this is the best NYE submission yet. Alas, I can't, but claim a moral victory as at least one person (me) thinks it's a winner..

Very nice additions, these last 3, but I think I am too old for your parties Tongue out, though I do see Benny Goodman and Dusty Springfield above to soothe my old ears. And I do like dafpunk's closer very much.  Happy New Year to all!

Um, mix off?

I would have said "cage match," but don't think that sweaty wrassling is completely dignified or called for in this instance.

Whoa, I didn't see that coming! I'm not worthy, but on the other hand I can't resist that swanky swag, so if Sara is willing to graciously go halves, let's have a civilized split. Thanks for the honor & glory . . .
