What's on TV?

Without a weekly dose of Scrubs to keep me checking the channels, I have to admit that my television watching has fallen to just about zero. I try my best to catch the new episodes of Fringe (if you haven't watched it, think an updated X-Files created by JJ Abrams) and the brilliantly quirky US knockoff of Life On Mars. But other than that, I can't think of anything worth watching.

What about you? What have you been watching? What am I missing out on?

Or, conversely, if you're like me and tend to watch your TV on DVD, what are some must-have shows that I may have missed out on?

I usually try to catch some Anthony Bourdain, who not only is my kind of tourist and my kind of chef, he would also be right at home on this blog, with his great taste in music. He grew up as a chef in New York in the 70s with all the CBGB groups getting off work at the same time the chefs did.

Besides that, us po' folks been trying to keep up with the Wire and Weeds on DVD loan from the library (it's a beautiful thing). I can always watch an episode of Seinfeld or Futurama, more so than Scrubs, though that is not too bad. I am surprised you can put up with Zach Braff's usual suspects all over the soundtrack.

Oh, and my political junkieness is still sated with a the occasional Olberman-Rachel shot and of course Jon Stewart and the folks at the Daily Show.

Yeah, I've occasionally caught Bourdain's show, and I read Kitchen Confidential when it came out, though I've yet to get around to his others. I agree he's damn well one of those guys I could get along with quite well.

Many people have sung the praises of The Wire, so I ought to try watching it. I do like George Pelecanos as well, and he's one of the producers of the later seasons.

I cannot, however, stomach more than ten minutes of Seinfeld.

Talking about DVD shows, Curb Your Enthusiasm does make Seinfeld look weak in comparison, even for a fan like me.

I'm a big fan of Bourdain too though was unaware that he had a TV show. I must try to track down some clips.

Love the new Doctor Who. Can't wait for the new season to reach the States. However, current obsession is... Dexter.

If anyone hasn't yet, they should check out CRIMINAL MINDS. It's not just a detective show. They profile serial killers and attempt to arrest them. Many twists and not always predictable. I detest predictability.

I love Criminal Minds, it's brilliant. You get to know the profilers as well, which I really like. It's not just about "who did it?", it's about "why did they do it?" and "who are we?". Great actors too.

Yep. Criminal Minds is great. I'm kinda bummed that Mandy left, but Joe is doing a great job as his replacement. This is a Tivo fave.
